The GMT hand has minimal lume loss, but this is expected in a sports watch over 65 years old. The case has been lightly polished, but is very attractive and full.Rolex’s answer to Pan-Am Airlines’ request was the reference 6542. They were able to accomplish the dual time zone requirement by adding a 24-hour hand and a rotating bezel to a 25-jewel automatic movement. Models with aluminium inserts are becoming rare, but not impossible to find in good condition with a correct dial. However, finding an original, first-gen Rolex GMT-Master 6542 with bakelite bezel in good condition is almost impossible.
